Singapore is a heavily populated country with tons of people walking on the streets at all times. Most people do not own cars so they get around by walking, or riding the MRT, bus, or a taxi. It is also a shoppers paradise. The apartment that we are staying in is about a 10 minute walk to one of the most popular shopping districts; known as Orchard Road. I would compare it to New York City, only with even more people. For the most part, we feel like we are living a city life. However, today when we ventured out to the Botanic Gardens we felt like we were transported to another place. The Botanic Gardens is 155 acres of unimaginable beauty. It is described as "a lush sanctuary in the heart of the city." We were blown away by the impeccable grounds and in awe of the gardens and landscape. Within the park, there is an orchid garden, 2 small waterfalls, a ginger garden, a rainforest, ponds with swans, turtles, and koi and much more. It is also a great place for kids to play on open grass areas and to have a picnic. We can't wait to go back and see more!
The kids are sitting on my lap as I read all your entries. We are really enjoying the blog ! XOXO Christy
