Quiet Sunday here. Thunder, lightning, and rain most of the day but we did not mind and enjoyed watching the lightning out the window. The kids were happy to have a day at the apartment and found plenty of ways to occupy themselves inside.
Since being in Singapore, we have noticed many interesting things:
1. The stores here are selling winter clothes, including puffy jackets, sweaters, and scarves. We find this odd since the weather is always over 85 degrees.
2. The locals are often wearing long sleeve shirts, pants, and even light sweaters outside. Although we are acclimating to the climate, I can't imagine a time when I would feel the need to put on more clothes when walking around outside.
3. Even though it is very crowded in the city, and personal space is limited, we have found people to be very considerate of each other and not pushy (for the most part), loud, or obnoxious in any way.
4. Although taxis must comprise at least half of the vehicles on the street, they are always occupied and it takes some patience to wait for one.
5. There are hardly any bugs or pigeons around. We are not sure how they are eliminating these "pests", but PETA would probably not be happy.
Hi Mary & Family-
ReplyDeleteSounds like a grand adventure continues. We are fascinated on this end, reading about it all. Sofie and Nate say they want to go there, judging from all the parks, cool zip lines, botanical gardens and ESPECIALLY that play house/zip line at the restaurant! HA. I'm curious to hear when (and IF) you start seeing people out and about in their big heavy jackets. Say hello to the everyone...look forward to continue reading your updates. Much love,
kristen
Hi Mary,
ReplyDeleteAmazing! Love reading your informative and eloquent descriptions of your experiences. Julia is enjoying it too, "Luuuuccckkkyyyy" was her exact response to seeing the kiddos and their adventures. Glad to hear you're doing well.
XOXO
Hey Mary, it is so neat to hear about all your adventures. Brian booked his ticket to Singapore. He will be there on Sunday, Dec. 12. Maybe you guys can meet up for dinner. He will be staying at the Mandarin Oriental Hotel in Singapore. Email me Jeff's contact info. Keep up the posts, there are fun to read!

Once again great synopsis of the days events and 'thoughts for the day'. So nice to see everyone's faces in the photos.
ReplyDeleteGood observations. I remember thinking the same about the weather when we lived in Hawaii. One time I was in line at the grocery store in my shorts and all the locals had on heavy jackets because the temp was a low of 69 degrees.
ReplyDeleteI doubt if you will ever wear a jacket in Singapore.
